Depression and Mindfulness Training

Course Overview

This course, developed by Psychology Chartered, is designed to introduce mindfulness as an effective treatment option for depression.

The definition, risk factors and prevalence of depression are highlighted before outlining the current treatment methods for this mental health condition. Mindfulness is introduced, looking at the effectiveness of mindfulness-based stress reduction, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy as treatment methods for depression. The course finishes by taking the learner through some guided mindfulness practice that can be used beyond the course in daily life.

By completing this course, you will gain a greater understanding of the various treatment options widely used for individuals with depression, and how mindfulness can offer an effective alternative using some of the same principles. The tools provided throughout this course will equip you with ways to manage your own day-to-day life stresses using mindfulness techniques.
